Coinbase Bridges the Gap Between Traditional Finance and Crypto: Chase Rewards Convert to USDC and Galaxy Users Can Buy Crypto via Samsung Pay

In a strong push toward integrating traditional banking with the crypto world, Coinbase has announced two major updates that are generating buzz across the digital finance sector.

First, starting in fall 2025, JPMorgan Chase customers will be able to convert their Ultimate Rewards points into cryptocurrency directly through Coinbase, at a rate of 100 points per 1 USD in crypto assets. Additionally, Chase credit card holders will be able to use their cards to purchase crypto beginning later this year. Following the announcement, Coinbase stock jumped approximately 2.8%, while JPMorgan shares rose by 0.5%.

Second, in partnership with Samsung Pay, Coinbase has rolled out a feature allowing users of Samsung Galaxy devices to purchase cryptocurrencies directly through the Samsung Pay app. This update is being gradually released throughout August and is initially available to users in the U.S. and Canada, aiming to streamline the mobile crypto experience.

These moves come on the heels of a mixed earnings report from Coinbase, which showed a 26% drop in revenue and a 39% decline in transaction income for Q2 2025. Despite this, Coinbase continues to secure key partnerships and expand its institutional presence.

Allowing bank reward points to be converted into crypto represents a direct convergence of traditional finance with Web3 innovation. Simultaneously, the Samsung Pay integration responds to rising demand for convenient and secure mobile solutions for digital asset purchases.
